QJÚB – Unfolding the Cube
Concert theatre based on the works of Sándor Csoóri and János Pilinszky
Created by Miklós H. Vecsei
About the Performance
Unfolding the Cube is a concert theatre production drawing on the works of Sándor Csoóri and János Pilinszky, bringing together poetry, live music, theatre, projected imagery and light art. Conceived by Miklós H. Vecsei, the production explores the distinct yet deeply interconnected intellectual and poetic worlds of the two poets through a contemporary artistic language.
The production’s distinctive visual world is shaped by the live projections of Kiégő Izzók and an installation by Szonja Dorottya Koltay. Poems and prose texts do not appear as separate literary quotations; instead, together with music, light and moving images, they become part of a single theatrical composition.
Unfolding the Cube explores how Hungarian literary heritage can become a contemporary artistic experience: how the poetry of Sándor Csoóri and János Pilinszky can speak to audiences today, making their ideas immediate, vivid and deeply felt.
