Our Productions

Much of our artistic work is inspired by the poetry, essays and intellectual legacy of Sándor Csoóri. His poetry, ideas and reflections on Hungarian culture find new expression in theatre, music and multidisciplinary artistic productions.

Our aim is not only to preserve his oeuvre, but to reinterpret it through contemporary artistic forms, ensuring that Sándor Csoóri’s poetry and thought remain a living cultural experience for today’s audiences, particularly for younger generations.

The Realism of the Soul

Based on the poems and essays of Sándor Csoóri

A stage production inspired by the poetry and essays of Sándor Csoóri, bringing the defining ideas and questions of his oeuvre to life through the interplay of text, Hungarian folk music and folk dance. The performance brings Csoóri’s intellectual legacy closer to contemporary audiences through the language of folk art.

The Girl Danced to Death

Based on a work by Sándor Csoóri and directed by Péter Novák, the production evokes the world of Hungarian folk culture through the interplay of music, dance, theatre and visual storytelling. Csoóri’s ballad is brought to the stage through a contemporary theatrical language.

…I Have Seen the World

Based on the poetry of Sándor Csoóri

A performance created from Sándor Csoóri’s poems about his homeland, love and a sense of responsibility towards the nation. His poetry is interpreted by Márta Bálint and Zoltán Rátóti, accompanied by Márton Komáromi on violin. The performance was directed and edited by Zoltán Rátóti.

Children’s performance

A musical stage production based on Sándor Csoóri’s playful, humorous and rhythmic poetry for children, bringing poetry closer to young audiences through music and Hungarian folk art. Led by Péter Novák as master of ceremonies, the performance actively involves the audience, bringing the playful and vibrant world of Csoóri’s poems to life.

The Magic Pipe

Inspired by Mozart’s opera The Magic Flute

Directed by Péter Novák, Mozart’s classic story is reimagined in a distinctive contemporary theatrical setting. Combining Hungarian folk dance and folk music with the classical musical tradition, the production explores love, family and human relationships, as well as our connection to the past and to our cultural heritage.

Dialogue in Dark

Concert theatre based on the poetry of Sándor Csoóri

A concert theatre production inspired by the poetry of Sándor Csoóri and created from the artistic concept of Miklós H. Vecsei. Through a distinctive dialogue between poetry, music and theatre, Csoóri’s intellectual and emotional world is brought to life in a contemporary artistic language, creating a new meeting point between poetry and music.

QJÚB – Unfolding the Cube

Concert theatre based on the works of Sándor Csoóri and János Pilinszky

Conceived and directed by Miklós H. Vecsei, this concert theatre production draws on the works of Sándor Csoóri and János Pilinszky. Bringing together poetry, live music, theatre, projected visuals and light art, the production gives contemporary artistic expression to the intellectual and spiritual worlds of the two poets.

Páva Club

Folk music and dance community programme

Páva Klub is a vibrant community space for Hungarian folk music, folk dance and traditional culture, where tradition is experienced not as a relic of the past, but as a living cultural heritage to be shared and passed on. Hosted by István Berecz, the programme brings together musicians, dancers, artists and audiences with a shared interest in Hungarian folk culture.

Csoóri Salon

Literary and musical programme with Miklós H. Vecsei

Csoóri-szalon brings the poetic and intellectual legacy of Sándor Csoóri to life through the work of contemporary artists. Led by Miklós H. Vecsei, the series invites its guests to select a poem, thought or passage from an essay by Csoóri and transform it into a new musical work. The premieres are accompanied by conversations about the creative process and the artists’ personal connection to Csoóri’s oeuvre. Over the years, many prominent young figures from Hungary’s music and theatre scene have taken part in the programme.

The Origins of the Székely People

Academic lecture

A lecture by Turkish linguist Dr Hakan Aydemir exploring the origins of the Székely people and their possible eastern connections through the methods of historical linguistics. Drawing on Chinese written sources, ethnonyms, and historical and geographical evidence, his research traces the proposed early history of the Székely people from Inner Asia to the Carpathian Basin. The lecture was presented with the participation of linguist and Turkologist Dr Éva Csáki.
